When making a big investment such as solar, you're going to want to know how long your panels will last.
Let's dive in and answer this as quickly as possible.
Every solar panel loses efficiency over time. Even with the proper care and maintenance, it will slowly decrease over the years.
So, when asking how long solar panels "last", there are two ways to look at it:
Most solar panel manufacturers will carry at least a 25-year warranty (ours have a 30-year warranty).
This warranty ensures that your solar panels will be producing at least 80% of their rated capacity at the 25 year mark, or the manufacturer will replace it.
Of course, solar panels don't just stop working after the 25 year mark...
There isn't a clear answer here since modern solar panels haven't been around that long.
Extrapolating from the data we have, solar panels could be producing energy even up to the 50 year mark, or even longer!
Of course the energy efficieny will continue to dip over time, but your panels should be able to have some level of output for many many years.
