Solar Is for Everyone, Red or Blue

The world feels more divided every day.

We pick sides, we demonize others, and we trap ourselves in our bubbles.

But there is one subject that we should all be able to agree on: solar!

I don’t care what side of the political spectrum you are on, I genuinely believe solar is something we can all agree upon (wow, that rhymed!).

Maybe for different reasons, sure. But something we can agree upon nonetheless.

Reasons for All

There are some things I think all Americans can agree with when it comes to the benefits of solar.

These are:

• Solar will be cheaper than your normal power bill in 90% of cases if you finance it.
• Solar can produce a better return on your money than the stock market.
• Solar reduces air pollution by shifting power away from fossil fuels (I mean, who doesn’t like clean air??).
• Solar will produce power for you in the event of an blackout.

Can we all agree on that? Sounds pretty nice if you ask me.

Reasons for Red

If you lean more conservative, you might not think that solar is worth it for you. I mean, it’s for them damn hippies, right?!

Wrong!

Here are some reasons why:

• Solar helps the U.S. gain energy independence, causing us to rely less on communistic and authoritative countries.
• Solar is now cheaper than gas turbines for generating electricity, saving Americans money and limiting the amount of debt our government needs to issue to fund electricity infrastructure.
• Solar (installed at individual households) helps protect the U.S. from the potential hacking of our grid system.
• Solar reduces our need to get involved in expensive conflicts abroad, reducing the increase of government debt.

Don’t you see? It would be unpatriotic for you not to install solar!

Reasons for Blue

If you lean more liberal, you probably already liked the idea of solar. But let’s call out the reasons for kicks and giggles!

These include:

• Solar reduces greenhouse gas emissions, slowing global warming.
• Solar helps the U.S. gain energy independence, reducing the number of wars America goes to.
• Solar reduces the need to build pipelines that run through Native American lands.
